The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) has introduced a brand-new system called NSP OTR Registration 2025 in the academic year 2025-26, every student must complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) process. Students will create one time registration ID to be used for various government scholarships scheme in future. This registration creates a unique ID that stays valid throughout your academic life for all scholarship applications via NSP. With the OTR done, you don’t have to repeat registration each year, saving time and avoiding hassles. The portal is part of the Government of India’s effort to streamline scholarship delivery, make application, verification, tracking and fund disbursement easier, more transparent and more student-friendly. With many central and state-level schemes now routed through NSP, the OTR becomes a gateway into the subsidies and benefits available for students from diverse backgrounds.

Why Is NSP OTR Useful?

Who Can Do OTR?

To generate your OTR on NSP for 2025, you must meet certain basic criteria. While the actual eligibility for specific scholarships may vary, OTR registration eligibility is fairly broad. Here are the general points:

• You must be a student of a recognised school/college/institution in India.
• You should have a valid Aadhaar number or Aadhaar Enrolment ID (EID). If you have only the enrolment ID, you should upgrade to Aadhaar once it is generated.
• A mobile number and email ID (for OTPs & verification) are required.
• Your bank account should ideally be linked with Aadhaar for DBT of scholarship funds.
• Only single ORT ID for one student will be allowed. Generating multiple IDs can disqualify you from certain benefits.
• If you’re a minor and don’t have Aadhaar, you may use your parent/guardian’s Aadhaar for registration (subject to rules).

• Aadhaar number or Aadhaar Enrolment ID of candidate.
• Mobile number (that you have access to)
• Email ID (for OTP and verification)
• Bank account details (in your name, seeded with Aadhaar ideally)
• Parent/guardian’s Aadhaar number (if applicable)
• Institution name & details (where you are studying)
• Basic personal details: name, date of birth, address, parent’s name etc.
• Passport-size photograph (may be required)
• If required: institute verification or bonafide certificate (for subsequent scholarship application)

Steps to Generate OTR

Before One time registration process candidates need to know about steps for registration at NSP official website for 2025 as given below:

1. Go onto official website of National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in
2. Go onto ORT Registration 2025-2026 link.
3. Read all instructions carefully before starting registration process to not make any mistake during registration process.
4. Candidate need to enter adhaar number and verify by submitting opt send on number.
5. Start filling details as name DOB, gender and contact details.
6. Candidate need to set strong password and security questions to remember.
7. After completing registration process carefully One time registration number will be send on your mobile number.

How to Use Your OTR for Scholarship Application

• Login into NSP using your OTR credentials.
• Navigate to “Apply for Scholarship” (fresh or renewal) section.
• Your profile details will be pre-filled (from OTR) which speeds up the application.
• Select the scholarship scheme for which you are eligible.
• Fill in the application form, upload required documents, and submit before the deadline.
• Monitor your application status (via dashboard) and wait for institute verification, fund disbursement etc.
• You can reuse the same OTR ID in future years for renewal or fresh scholarship applications.
