The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for the Wards of States or UTs Police Personnel is a valued initiative by the Ministry of Home Affairs by Government of India launched in the academic session 2019 to 20. This scheme has mission which encourage higher technical and professional education among the dependent wards of States and Union Territories Police Personnel who were martyred during terror or Naxal attacks.cThis noble effort recognizes the sacrifice of brave police personnel and is willing to support their children in achieving their academic dreams. The PMSS 2025 provides financial assistance up to rs 3000 per month which is directly transferred to the student account through the Direct Benefit Transfer system under the Public Financial Management System. Previous 4000 Scholarships were sanctioned in equal as both girls and boys under PMSS for each academic year in addition to renewal cases of previous years but now number of scholarships have been increased to 5500 distributed as 2750 Girls and 2750 Boys.

- The scholarship amount is disbursed annually after selection.
- The duration of financial support is up to 5 years, depending on the course duration approved by the respective regulatory body.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidate willing to apply for Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme must meet the following conditions:
- Candidates from Dependent wards of States or UTs Police Personnel who were martyred during Terror or Naxal attacks are eligible for this scheme.
- Courses Covered:
Students must be pursuing first professional degree programs in any of the following fields:- Engineering or Medicine or Dental of Veterinary
- BBA or BCA or B.Pharma
- B.Sc Nursing or bsc Agriculture.
- MBA, MCA, B.Ed and other UGC/AICTE-approved professional courses
- Minimum Marks:
- ForcFresh Applicants Minimum 60 percent of marks in Minimum Entry Qualification (MEQ) i.e. 10+2 or Diploma or Graduation.
- Renewal Applicants: Must pass every academic year with at least 50% marks.
- Number of Beneficiaries: Maximum two children per family.
- Marital Status: Applicants are eligible irrespective of marital status.
- Lateral Entry: Students admitted directly to the 2nd year of technical/professional degree (BE/B.Tech etc.) after completing a diploma are eligible.
- Relaxation: One-year grace period may be given for renewal delay (only in valid cases).
Minimum Entry Qualification
The MEQ for various professional programs differs according to the course:

Candidates from CBSE should have marks from the best five subjects out of 500 will be considered when calculating the MEQ percentage.
Courses Covered by PMSS
The scholarship applies only to first professional degree courses approved by recognized regulatory bodies like:
- AICTE – for candidates applying for Engineering and Technical Courses
- UGC – for University-recognized programs
- MCI / DCI / VCI – for Medical, Dental, Veterinary Courses
Integrated Courses:
For integrated programs like ME/M.Tech/M.Pharma, the scholarship is given only for the first 3-4 years of study.
For B.Ed courses, it is applicable only to standalone B.Ed programs — not BA + B.Ed integrated programs.
Candidate NOT Eligible
Some candidate can not apply for PMSS 2025 Because of various reasons as follows:
- Wards of civilian employees of State/UT Police personnel.
- Students enrolled in correspondence/distance learning courses.
- Applicants who are already receiving another government scholarship.
- Those who have already availed PMSS in previous years.
- Students doing diploma courses are not eligible.
- Candidates who are having admission in non-
- recognized institutions are not eligible.
- Students studying abroad.
- Students who change college/course mid-way after selection.
⚠️ Any applicant found ineligible at any stage will have their scholarship cancelled immediately and will be blacklisted from all Central Government scholarships for five years.

Application Process
Candidate need to submit application form for National Scholarship Portal at official website at scholarships.gov.in
For New Applicants
- Visit the official NSP website and click “New Registration” under the Applicant Corner.
- Read all guidelines carefully, accept the undertaking by ticking the checkbox, and click “Continue.”
- Start Filling in your details like name, Aadhaar, mobile number, email ID and bank details to register.
- Final stage is Upload the required documents and submit the form online before the last date.
For Registered Applicants (Renewal)
- Go to the NSP homepage and select “Fresh Application” under the Applicant Corner.
- Log in with your existing Application ID and Password.
- Select the PMSS for Wards of States/UTs Police Personnel scheme.
- Fill out the renewal form by filling all details carefully.
- Upload the updated documents including mark sheets and institution certificate.
- Review all details and final submit.

- Certificate from State Government confirming martyrdom of the police personnel in Terror/Naxal attack (Mandatory)
- Attested copy of Marksheet of MEQ (10+2 / Diploma / Graduation)

Payment & Communication
- Scholarship amount will be credited directly into the student’s bank account via PFMS under the DBT programme.
- All communication, alerts, and updates will be sent via SMS and Email.
- Each selected candidate will receive a personalized letter from the Hon’ble Prime Minister, acknowledging their selection.
